Photo View: (12-474) VERY RARE FACTORY ENGRAVED SHARPS SLANT BREECH MODEL 1853 SPORTING RIFLE

Very scarce little gun; factory records indicate there were only approximately 200 of these guns that were ever engraved and this one is complete with a Factory Letter verifying the half engraving at a cost of $35 (only a half dozen of these had that type of special engraving) and specifying the 60 Caliber bore. The gun is beautifully done with fairly elaborate coverage and has a 26” heavy weight octagon bbl, steel patchbox. Orig wood is in VG cond with traces of orig varnish, overall metal is smooth, clean and has turned mostly a plum brownish coloration with sharp markings, sharp corners. Nice, clean, all orig little gun.
