At the period of use, it was fitted with a 28" octagon extra heavy bull barrel which measures almost 1-1/2" at the muzzle and weighs 17-1/2 lbs. Fine bore, period front and of the period folding tang back sights, double set triggers. Original cheekpiece checkered deluxe buttstock is VG with an excellent old repaired crack at the wrist; Swiss style buttplate. Refinished overall a long time ago and has 90% dull blue turning a brown patina coloration. Forearm is an of the period replacement and marked on the inside in pencil is 'Sam Gray, Feb 10, 193?'-can't quite make it out. He was a widely known for his work on single shot target rifles back in the 20's and 30's. Very interesting gun-the barrel sticks out a good 1/8" on each side of the receiver. Fine, old, of the period serious man's shooting target rifle with a full matted surface on the top of the barre;.
