Engraved on the side of the barrel: 'With this pistol was made the first perfect outdoor score of 100 at 50-yard range' and the other side continues 'Made at Philadelphia November 8th, 1898 by C.H. Taylor worked for a number of automobile manufacturers and airline companies where he patented numerous devices. Entirely engraved: gold gilted receiver elaborately engraved and retains nearly all the orig gold gilt; bbl is in excellent cond retaining all the orig blue; orig mother-of-pearl grips. Beautifully cased in a French Moroccan style leather case with a 'Stevens Arms and Tool Company' label on top which also has the '..1st perfect score of 100' statement on it. Very neat and interesting as far as early American target shooting is concerned. Gun is near mint condition; complete with tools fitted inside the case and a box of cartridges. Hard to improve on and definitely a plus to any Stevens collection. A lot of paperwork accompanies this gun.
