Engraved by Nimschke. Original 30” full octagon bbl, mint bore. Oriinal sights include a globe front and a folding ladder rear. Original fancy grade wood is in excellent+ condtion with most the original varnish. Overall gun is in extremely fine condition retaining virtually all the original barrel blue; receiver and buttplate are nickel plated-98% bright shiny nickel remaining on the receiver; 75% on the buttplate. Receiver is elaborately engraved in Nimschke’s usual floral patterns with the name ‘James Barbour’ in a ribbon on the side. Beautifully done-excellent inside and out. Probably the finest example of an engraved Evans Sporting Rifle known-there are some elaborate ones made in a musket form, but not in a sporting rifle.
