Photo View: (13-257) 1ST MODEL WINCHESTER 1873 SADDLERING CARBINE
VG+ bore. Very nice early example with raised thumbprint dustcover. Interestingly, Jim Gordon’s 1873 survey lists the next serially numbered gun as being from The Little Bighorn Site. Smooth clean metal is basically a plummish patina with blue in the protected areas. VG solid walnut with a small 2” crack in the forearm. Wood appears to have had a coat of linseed oil added. Front sight has been slightly modified and a narrow dovetail is present at the extreme rear of the frame, original flip up rear sight. Very nice example.
A $ 8,500
