(13-349) WINCHESTER 1876 OLD WEST INDIAN GUN

This gun does appear to have Indian heritage by the modifications done to it; some of which are not understandable such as a leather wrap at the end of the 23-1/2" octagon bbl-must have been used for gripping or carrying and a nice leather wrap around the wrist. This is a rifle but somewhere along the way, somebody mated a carbine stock to it, thus the leather wrap. Surprisingly, it does have the metal carbine buttplate and the dustcover. Normally Indians took them off right away and used them for tools for various things. Metal on this gun is not too bad, has been cleaned long ago and does have mostly a grayish look to it, the bbl is also pretty much a gray brown light rust patina. Equipped with a button mag. Forearm quite shy at the forearm cap, sights gone long ago. It would be an interesting conversation piece and would look great in a den or over a fireplace. Great example of Western history! ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e
