(8-1032) VERY SCARCE ENGRAVED SINGLE ACTION S & W MODEL 1891 SINGLE SHOT TARGET PISTOL IN .22 LR

8” barrel is marked ‘Model of 91’, VG bore and is without a serial number. Frame serial number is 15,XXX which is too high for a standard single shot. Therefore, this example may have been destined as part of a set to include a .38 Caliber SA Third Model revolver. The pistol has the frame cuts for cylinder but has the flat milled recoil shield and groove in the receiver of a second model. We feel this was made up from existing parts at the factory. The engraving appears to be factory with very typical scrolls and punch dot background. The pistol retains approximately 80% nickel which has turned a pleasing mellow patina. Equipped with blued target sights and very unusual 3-piece aged ivory grips which have turned a pleasing yellowish patina. The barrel has one small area of light corrosion mid way on left side. Otherwise a fine condition target pistol inside and out. ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e
