10 Gauge. 30" cyl bore with a very fine bore. Very substantial bbl and mag blue with some amateur gunsmith dings on the bottom of the bbl in front of the bbl band. Lots of blue also on receiver with some flaking and scratches. The WRA is a rather light stamping, the smooth round knob buttstock rates VG showing a chipped toe which was sanded over. (10-356) WINCHESTER MODEL 12 CUSTOM ENGRAVED PIGEON GRADE SHOTGUN
This gun originally was a pigeon grade with the round post ventilated rib, orig wood is in exc cond with a cheekpiece and the correct Winchester red recoil buttplate. Receiver is very finely engraved with a game scene on one side surrounded by a very interesting scroll motif. The other side features another game scene with pheasants in it (one bird rising and another on the ground). (10-365) WINCHESTER MODEL 21 CUT-AWAY SHOTGUN
Serial number W21X which is on the side of the frame and the bottom of the bbls. The bbls have been shortened to 12”, walnut stock has been cut off at about 8” long. The entire side of the rec has been milled away to show the internal functioning of the mechanism, there’s a slot on the top of each of the bbls about 2” long by ¼” wide that shows the dummy cartridges inside the chambers. The gun is complete with a triangular shaped counter top display board that has the maker’s label, two dummy shot shells and a brass plaque marked ‘Winchester Model 21 Factory Cut-away. Workers sample. Serial # W21X’. This gun has been featured in numerous articles as well as on the cover of the ‘CADA Gun Journal’. Complete with Letter of Authenticity explaining the functions and reasons for its existence from the manager of the customs shop, Borno Pardee. Truly a unique, one of a kind item in nearly new cond-just a few light handling mars and dings. Serial number is EXP10A. This gun was used for testing various cartridge loads and has a lengthy letter listing all the test results the gun has performed; has been shot a lot but shows no wear and in as new condition. Pistol grip checkered stock retains all original stock varnish, correct shotgun style buttplate, barrel and magazine retain 99%+ original bright shiny blue. Aluminum frame, 26” barrel. Previously in Tom Hutchinson’s collection. He acquired it directly from John Olin of the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. This is the first time it’s been offered for public sales. Factory trap style stock with the Black Diamond, receiver is scroll engraved with gold gilded engraved vignettes on both sides featuring a duck and pheasant. Probably a factory replaced vent rib, 30” barrel retaining all bright shiny blue, barrel is numbered and proofed to match. Excellent forearm matches the newer front end, original buttstock is VG with a light coat of varnish added. Spacers are added to provide a 13-7/8” pull to the end of a Winchester pad.
