(EL-8827) WINCHESTER MODEL 1894 OCTAGON BARRELED RIFLE IN CALIBER 38-55

Standard configuration gun with octagon bbl, full magazine, crescent buttplate. This early 1900's gun is in fair to good cond and looks just the way it should; it looks like an old rifle. Receiver is a grayish brown with some blue in protected areas, bbl also has an antique, worn look to it. Nice, sharp octagons, good bbl markings. Wood is nice and solid with all four corners in good cond, no losses but several scratches, gouges, etc. Bore has nice riflings but there is some roughness throughout. Decent looking, old Winchester. e

(EL-8826) MODEL 1894 WINCHESTER OCTAGON BARRELED RIFLE

Caliber 25-35. Equipped with octagon bbl, full mag, rifle buttplate. Receiver is mostly a brownish gray coloration and appears to have had a little cold bluing in spots, mag tube retainer also has been reblued for some reason; the rest of the gun has the orig finish which is wearing to a grayish blue. Wood is in fair to good overall cond and is a little shy at the toe; appears to have had a coat of varnish added many, many years ago. Action and bore are both in good cond. Not a bad looking old rifle. e

90%+ receiver blue remains with wear at the carry point, bbl retains most the blue as does the mag tube, a couple very light scratches on the left hand side of the receiver (possibly a name). Full length magazine tube, crescent butt. This short rifle is in the 272,XXX serial range and is a good, solid old gun that retains mostly a grayish brown patina on the receiver; bbl has nice, sharp edges and thinning blue, a little pitting right at the muzzle end. Wood is in relatively good shape, fit is good, no losses and no visible cracks. There has been a hammer repair done and the rear sight is a replacement King. Bore is in fair to good cond and may clean up to be quite good. Pretty decent old rifle in a hard to find variation of short rifle. Letter. e

(8804-14-33) WINCHESTER MODEL 1894 SPECIAL ORDER SHORT RIFLE WITH VERY SCARCE 16" FULL OCTAGON BBL AND FULL LENGTH MAGAZINE TUBE

Caliber 30-30. I don't think I've had one of these for probably 25 years; very scarce gun that features the correct 7-1/2" which is the shortest of the two short rifle forearms, express 3-leaf rear and blade front sights. Orig wood shows the usual amount of wear with a few nicks and gouges but is sound, solid with no splits or cracks; complete with what I'm positive is the orig carbine style buttplate-why not a carbine BP on a 16" short rifle? The last one I had, also had a carbine butt, as well as a saddlering. Decent, clean little gun with 25% blue in the protected areas on the bbl and mag; receiver is just a plum brown coloration with exc screws, no signs of pitting or any other abuse to the metal. Orig 26" full oct bbl, full mag, exc bore, orig sights include correct front, flip up 2-leaf rear and folding tang. Orig pistol grip uncheckered deluxe wood is very nicely redone, not sanded or undersized and is in very fine cond with a light coat of varnish added; rifle style buttplate. The case hardened receiver shows a fair amount of age, retains probably 90% vivid case colors and has been engraved with a buck deer in an oval on the left side and a ram head very nicely done on the opposite side; the rest of the rec is done in delicate scroll pattern engraving, some engraving on the bbl and on the muzzle end. Bbl and mag have been refinished and are in exc cond with sharp corners, exc markings, all refinish remaining. Complete with double set triggers, interesting little gun. Orig 26" full oct bbl, button mag, exc bore, orig sights include a Lyman hunters ivory bead front, Buckhorn rear and Lyman Model 21 side mount receiver sights. Orig 3X grade pistol grip checkered wood is in exc cond; shotgun style buttplate. This gun was special ordered by Winchester with an inch and a half extra drop to the stock-very unusual: the stock that they used doesn't have a pistol grip cap, it's got a bag grip on the end instead. Overall gun is in exc+ cond with 98%+ bbl blue, 95%+ vivid rec blue; stock retains virtually all the high gloss lacquer finish with some very light crackling showing. Presentation plaque on the stock but I can't exactly make out the names on it-I believe it was given to a woman. This gun has a full mag and in kind of a strange configuration, there is a saddlering stud. Medium brown receiver, bbl finish has some blue remaining but has drifted to an antique looking patina. Wood has got a replacement rear stock off a later 94, forearm wood is orig and has a severe crack all the way through which has been repaired but still very visible. King rear and post type front sights, a rather dark bore which may clean up to be somewhat decent. This gun does have a few issues but is very fairly priced. e

Rifle is equipped with deluxe very extra figured wood, pistol grip, checkered. The checkering is almost wore off of the forearm, finish has possibly been freshened. Bbl retains 80-90% blue, thinning in a few spots. Flip up globe front and standard rear sights, fair to good bore. Receiver retains maybe 40% blue, the remainder is the standard grayish color.
