(13-52) VERY INTERESTING CASED PRESENTATION WINCHESTER MODEL 95 RIFLE IN CALIBER 405
Exc bore, orig side mount Lyman 21 series receiver sight, shotgun style buttplate, sling eyes. Marked on the side of the receiver is 'Lyon and Lyon Calcutta'; a presentation plaque on top of the case is marked 'Lt. Col. Henry H. Mathias Presented by 1st Gordon Highlanders'. On the inside of the case is a presentation plaque: 'Lt. Col. Henry L.H. Johnson & Co., Aligarah U.P. India'. There's quite alot of documentation that goes along with this piece. One unique item on this gun is a mounting clamp on top of the front of the forearm believed to have been used to secure the gun on top of one of those Howda baskets used for riding on top of an elephant. Overall gun has seen some moderate use and has possibly been refinished a long time ago; most of that still remains however, it is starting to turn a plummish brown coloration. Still, a fine looking gun with an interesting history. Click to see a lot of info in google regarding Lt. Col. Mathias and the 1st Battalion of the Gordon Highlanders ~~> VIEW PHOTO <~~ e

(13-54) WINCHESTER MODEL 1895 TAKE DOWN DELUXE RIFLE IN 30-06
Orig sights include Model 21 series Lyman side mount receiver, Buckhorn rear and typical Lyman front. 90% thinning bbl blue, 75% orig thinning blue with traces of brown starting to appear on the receiver. Orig wood is in VG cond having been freshened, I believe the checkering has been redone but is not sanded or undersized and appears to be in exc cond with a Winchester red recoil pad. Apparently manufactured with a really high comb and an extra length pull to the stock. I had the stock off and the assembly numbers match underneath, the inleading is done by Winchester-very unusual looking stock but I believe it to be factory. Complete with eyes for Winchester sling. Overall gun in VG+ cond, all orig except where noted.
