Orig 22" full octagon bbl, 1/2 length magazine tube, take down frame, orig sights include Lyman front, buckhorn rear and Lyman folding tang. Orig select grade extra finish wood is in exc cond with most orig varnish; complete with special order Swiss style buttplate. The gun is in overall excellent cond with 95% thinning bbl blue remaining and about 90% orig nickel on the frame, forend cap and buttplate; exc traces of case hardening on the lever. Guaranteed all orig and complete with orig Winchester marked leather take down case; these are very rarely, if ever, encountered and this one is in VG cond with some very minor water damage on it. With a very scarce stainless steel bbl as well as a special order pistol grip non-checkered stock. Overall gun has been cleaned and is in exc cond with sharp markings, sharp corners, orig wood has a light coat of varnish added but is in exc cond with no splits, cracks and has never been sanded; shotgun style buttplate. Orig sights include 3-leaf folding rear as well a ramp front with a Lyman insert. Scarce little gun; a Model 53 is very rarely seen with a pistol grip stock and a stainless steel bbl. e

Bbl retains 98% bright shiny orig blue, rec retains about 40% orig blue starting to tone somewhat. It appears that the bbl is of somewhat later manufacture (maybe around 1920) than the rest of the gun which is in an early antique serial number range. Nice, clean, sharp gun that will make a good shooter. e
